Alfega Alcaraz Martin, 49, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 17, 2018. Alfega was born in Mexico City, Mexico, grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and spent her last fifteen years in the Indianapolis area.
She will be missed by her husband Tim, their children Samantha, Tim Jr, and Robby, her mother Beatriz, her eight brothers and sisters, and many more family members and dear friends.
Alfega received a bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Teaching from Columbia College in Chicago. She worked as a teacher in Chicago Public Schools and Indianapolis Public Schools. Later, she homeschooled their children. She was also a long-time member of College Park Church in Indianapolis. Her passion was shining the light of Jesus into the lives of family, friends, and anyone else she met. She truly believed: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
There will be a visitation in honor of Alfega’s life at College Park Church (2606 W 96th St, Indianapolis) on Tuesday May 22, 2018 from 3-7 p.m. On Wednesday May 23, there will be additional visitation from 9-10 a.m., followed by her Celebration of Life service at 10 a.m. For those unable to attend the service, a live stream will be available here: https://www.yourchurch.com/live-stream/
After the service there will be a procession to Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis for burial and prayer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Alfega’s memory be made to Life Centers of Central Indiana. https://lifecenters.com/give/

I didn’t know Alfega well but each time I saw her at church or elsewhere, that smile would make my day better❤️ She was so loved & deserving of every heart she touched.
We are remembering you all in our prayers.

Dear Tim and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Alfega was one of those people that once you met her, she made a positive impression on you that lasted. When our kids were smaller, I would often see her at the pool in our neighborhood and at community functions. She always had a kind word, smiled a beautiful smile, and showed such patience and love for her children. I’m happy that I was able to know her a little and want you to know that I will be praying for all of you.

Tim and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of the news of Alfega. I never met her, but in reading her posts it was very clear what a faithful positive soul she is. I know you will all miss her so very much.
On the other hand, because of her great faith and God’s love, there is great joy for her on the other side now, and we can all look to that day of reunion when we all meet each other and the Lord in the air, never to taste illness again. I pray that the Lord will pour out His mighty power and Spirit to you all and comfort you each and every day!
